EAT: SUSHI JIRO, MELBOURNE CENTRAL

I’m no stranger to the sushi delights of Sushi Jiro - their home delivered platters sorted out my sushi cravings on more than one occasion throughout the two lockdowns of 2020. I can’t recommend the aburi platter enough! So when the opportunity to dine in and partake in their sushi train experience arose, I went in with expectations of a very tasty feed. As it turns out, I walked out of the restaurant absolutely blown away by all the other tasty morsels I had been missing out on… There’s a world of deliciousness beyond their sushi selection - nori tacos adorned with silky fresh salmon or filled with crispy soft shell crab, chewy bites of udon noodles in a clean, flavoursome broth, and thinly-shaved, succulent wagyu beef tataki paired with a fragrant truffled sauce. And the cherry on top? With most dishes priced at $3.90, Sushi Jiro is one of Melbourne’s most affordable sushi trains. Given the quality and freshness of their ingredients, and the tasty wow factor captured in even the most simplest sushi pieces through to their more innovative concoctions, that is serious bang for buck…
