EAT [TAKEAWAY]: COPPER POT AT HOME [COPPER POT, SEDDON]

One of my favourite meals from last year took place at Copper Pot Seddon, where my taste buds were transported on a whirlwind, but more importantly, delicious journey across several European countries within the space of two hours thanks to their European Road Trip menu. The cherry on top? The restaurant is located super close to home in the neighbouring suburb, so I knew it was only a matter of time before I revisited.

Turns out said revisit took on the form of takeaway; like many others, Copper Pot Seddon are currently operating as a takeaway only venue (food and wine) during the state’s stage three covid restrictions. In the spirit of sorting out a few lunches (there were just too many delicious sounding dishes on their menu) and supporting local, I placed an order for some pastas/gnocchi to refrigerate, greens+ a garlicky flat bread for myself and a cheeseburger+fries for my brother. The pastas refrigerated super well and as far as I could tell as I made my way through these in the days post-ordering, they tasted pretty fresh when thoroughly reheated. Some charred garlic flatbread (a fancy garlic bread if you like) here would have been perfect to mop up the sauce, particularly with the saucier gnocchi, but I had long devoured this on day one alongside the Somerset veggies. On that note, the bread had a gorgeous airy light texture, and its overall flavour amped up to max with the garlicky presence, smoky char and fresh herbs. The Somerset veggies seemed like a simple enough dish but the medley of greens and flavours made an impressively tasty and complementary blend that teamed beautifully with the nuttiness of the macadamia, punchiness of the goats cheese (a little goes a long way - unless you’re a big fan of goats curd I wouldn’t be quick to stir it through) and finally the juicy bursts of sweet pomegranate. But perhaps the standout amongst our tasty spread was the cheeseburger. A juicy and succulent beef patty topped with melted cheese, accompanied by pickles and crisp lettuce, sandwiched between a soft brioche bun. One of the best cheeseburger I’ve tasted in a long time as far as I could glean from my sample bite. Don’t you just hate dish envy? Looks like I’ll have to rectify this with another revisit soon…

At the time of writing this review and the covid-19 stage three restrictions currently in place, Copper Pot Seddon remains open for takeaway and also have weekly takeaway specials on select nights. See their website for more information.
