EAT: AM BAKEHOUSE, GLEN IRIS

I have my go-to patisseries and bakeries on this side of town, including one that boasts having the world’s best croissant, but it turns out I was missing out on a slice of pastry heaven that is AM Bakehouse located in Melbourne’s east. Upon looking up the directions to the bakery, I was impressed to see a Google rating of 4.9. Deservedly so, I discovered just as soon as I took one bite of their triple chocolate croissant, a chocolate-on-chocolate take of a pain au chocolat. Picture this: a delicate and buttery pastry, filled with a silky chocolate custard, and topped with the thinnest and crispiest layer of chocolate. The scattering of nuts rounded out the textures of the pastry nicely, and worked beautifully with the chocolate presence, resulting in the perfect flavour palette that was neither too rich nor too sweet. The ube cruffin was also a solid pick, a must order for anyone who enjoys ube. Again, the pastry component and flavours were perfectly executed, and not too sweet! I also spied their viral pastry wheel but was one customer too late as the customer in front picked up the last one… biscoff flavour, it would have been a goodie! Just another reason to return to AM Bakehouse sooner than later :)
