Spanning ten summer days from January 19th to 28th, National Gallery of Victoria's Triennial EXTRA is a festival that sees the convergence of art, dance, music, architecture, drink, food and conversation under the one roof. Contributing to the food aspect in all of this is Andrew McConnell's Supernormal Natsu pop up restaurant.

Taking up temporary residence in NGV's Garden Restaurant, the green garden surroundings provide a gorgeous backdrop to the eye-catching interior decor that defines Supernormal Natsu's interior. Diners and those passing through the garden won't be able to miss the charcoal hibachi grill set up (or the tantalising scents of grilling meats from afar); be sure to order a skewer or few from the yakitori menu. Adding to the grilled yakitori selection is a menu largely comprised of Supernormal Natsu-exclusive dishes that utilise some of the best seasonal produce on offer in summer. One of our favourite picks is the sensationally creamy burrata (cue the cheese explosion), served on a bed of tangy sweet tomato with a fragrant sesame flatbread; it's a clever dish that embraces the east-meets-west theme captured across many of their dishes.
