30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS // AFTERNOON TEA, PIGGERY CAFE

In the lead up to turning 30, I thought of episodes from TV shows like Friends and How I Met Your Mother where many of the characters experienced some form of third-life crisis. While I wasn’t particularly thrilled by the prospect of entering the next age bracket, I also didn’t suffer through too many moments of WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE ARGHHHH?! You’re only as old as you feel… on most days anyway.

The supposedly dreaded turning of 30 has now come and gone… and as it turns out, 30 ain’t so bad. Remarkably similar to 29. 28. Yada yada. And I got to spend two wonderful weekends (the second in Adelaide; more on that to come) celebrating with some of my favourite peeps.

AN AFTERNOON AT PIGGERY CAFE

Sunshine and champagne - what a sparkling way to ring in 30 with an afternoon tea at Piggery Cafe. Topped off with a beautiful surprise cake from @themacarondiaries.

A TASTY SURPRISE FROM THE HUBBY

I can literally count on one hand the number of times the hubby has cooked a meal for me in our 12 years together. One. Two. That’s it. This was the second time he’s ever ventured into the kitchen territory and he whipped out the big guns with a risotto AND baked loaded eggplant. Both delicious. Makes me wish I turned 30 everyday. Looks like I’ll just have to work on getting him to cook more often…
