EAT: DARI KOREAN CAFE & BAR, MELBOURNE CBD

I grew up eating sandwiches on what was pretty much a daily basis, so it takes one heck of a sandwich to excite my taste buds. The exciting flavour combos in Dari Korean Cafe’s sandwich menu do exactly that. Think bold Korean flavours captured between two layers of toasted sandwich bread or milk buns. Our pick of the K-Street Toast comprised an egg omelette, carrot, onion, maple onion mayo, ham, American cheese, cabbage, AND ketchup - a mish mash of ingredients akin to combining multiple sandwich fillings into one but pulled off faultlessly. Bolder yet was the Idol sandwich (filled with Mexican salad, egg potato salad and strawberry jam) that certainly piqued our curiosity… perhaps we’ll muster up the boldness to try this one next time around. The beef and spicy pork bulgogi sliders seemed tamer in comparison but were equally delicious, brimming with taste. And be sure to save some room for dessert. Their unique take on the classic tiramisu, Korean soy tiramisu, was the highlight of our meal - silky light and creamy, not overly sweet, the soy presence adding a nuttiness, and the chewy gelatinous rice cake encountered throughout playfully mixing up the textures.

Needless to say, Dari Korean Cafe strays from the typical lunch offerings - add some excitement to your lunch by visiting!
