STAY: THE LANGHAM GOLD COAST

A slice of paradise exists on the Gold Coast and you can find it at The Langham. Relatively new to the scene, the luxury hotel opened its doors last year in 2022. This achievement (alongside several other exciting developments from the Langham Hospitality Group) was celebrated at an event held at The Langham Melbourne earlier in the year; we had the pleasure of attending this event and scored the opportunity to stay at the new hotel. Hotels under The Langham branding are preceded by a sparkling reputation, and let’s just say that our experience lived up to expectations, and then some.

We stayed in one of the deluxe ocean view rooms, which was incredibly spacious and as the name suggests, beach/ocean facing. The balcony offered an expansive view of the beach and outdoor pool area, a scenic backdrop that can be enjoyed from the comfort of the comfy lounge chairs. If you’re not already in holiday mode, then these views will do just the trick.. next on our to do list post checking in was going downstairs to laze by the pool with cocktails in hand.

It goes without saying that the in-room amenities were also top notch, Nespresso machine coffee anyone? From the comfort of your own room! And like the tea, they refilled the pods as required/daily. If you’re a fan of taking baths, make sure to take advantage of their deep tub, guaranteeing a good, relaxing soak.

Aside from spending much of our time lounging by the pool, I also visited the gym… and was very impressed with their selections of free weights and weight machines, not to mention several units of treadmills/other cardio machines. This is not your typical hotel gym with a token ‘handful’ of machines/weights and there’s a good chance that even during peak training hours, you’ll find something to do.

And finally, the beachside location of The Langham Gold Coast was the cherry on top of a fabulous stay. While it may be tempting to hole up in the hotel and its grounds (i.e. pool, pool, pool), you’ll want to set aside some time to walk (or run, if you’re a jogger like myself!) along the beautiful beach. And you’ll have front row views of the sunrise - I made sure to set an alarm on both mornings of our stay (4.30am, ooph!) to catch the sunrise, first from our hotel balcony and the second morning from the beach. As it turns out, the sun didn’t quite make it into our line of sight from our room.. even with my face pressed right up against the balcony window but this obviously wasn’t an issue when we made our way to the beach on day 2.
